The Designer
Milliner, designer and creative force Otis Damón has built a distinctive world around sculptural form, fearless detail and the belief that a hat should express the character of the person wearing it.
The Origin
Long before OTIS DAMÓN became a name in millinery, making things by hand was already part of his language.
His early exposure to sewing, design and entrepreneurship introduced him to the idea that creativity could become more than an interest — it could become a life and a business.
By his teenage years, that instinct had found its way to headwear. What began as experimentation developed into a fascination with silhouette, construction and the ability of a hat to completely transform the person wearing it.
That early entrepreneurial drive and commitment to his craft would become the foundation for the house he continued to build: one defined by independence, individuality and an unmistakable visual point of view.
Sewing and hands-on creativity introduced Otis to the discipline of making and the possibilities of design.
Business and creativity developed together early, establishing the independent mindset that would later define his work.
Hatmaking became the medium through which shape, personality and craftsmanship could meet.
Experimentation evolved into a recognizable approach: bold proportion, sculptural form and unexpected detail.
The story was never simply about making hats. It was about developing a language of his own.
Career & Craft
As his passion for millinery developed, OTIS DAMÓN continued to refine both his technique and his understanding of fashion through professional training and experience.
His path brought him into the worlds of established milliners, luxury retail and fashion presentation — experiences that strengthened the technical foundation behind his increasingly distinctive design language.
His development included training with respected milliners Lola Ehrlich and Horace Weeks, further grounding his work in the traditions and techniques of the craft.
His professional journey also extended into luxury fashion retail, including Henri Bendel — placing his work within the context of New York style and fashion clientele.
Work connected to New York Fashion Week expanded the dialogue between his millinery and the broader fashion world, where a hat becomes part of an entire visual statement.
Over time, his work has attracted performers, personalities and individuals drawn to headwear with presence, character and an unmistakable point of view.

Design Philosophy
The work of OTIS DAMÓN is defined less by trend than by attitude. Each piece begins with proportion, silhouette and the belief that headwear should change the way the wearer enters a room.
Shape leads the design. Crown height, brim width and balance are considered as architecture around the face and body.
The goal is never to disappear into a look. Each piece is designed to amplify personality rather than compete with it.
Bold form and unexpected detail are balanced carefully so every element has purpose and the final silhouette feels resolved.
A hat should not ask permission to be seen. It should arrive with you.
